Not convenient, not a smooth shave. Avoid.
By Veer Kotharion
It's not very easy to use and not very effective. It would have been much cheaper, much faster, and most importantly a much smoother shave, if I had used my twin-blade Gilette safety razor. Here's the lowdown:1. LONG HAIR (approx. 1cm): If you try using the shaver on a beard that's a few days old, you're in for a lot of pain. After all, this is a shaver, not a trimmer. You can feel the pinch on each hair follicle and it's practically impossible to use. I don't have a very high pain treshold. So if you do end up buying this shaver, I recommend: (a) get a clean shave or close trim first with a razor/trimmer before using this shaver (b) use it very regularly to keep your hair length down2. SHORT HAIR (stubble): After my first painful pinch on the long hair, I whipped out a trimmer on the lowest setting and got rid of most of my facial hair. Being that it was a trimmer, I could feel a nice even stubble across my face and throat. I then applied this Philips shaver, first in one direction (from sidelocks to chin). I could feel that it had left some smooth streaks across my cheek. (a) However, because of this, the smooth was now intermingled with the stubble, making it difficult to determine if I was going over the same place again and again or actually getting to new areas. Eventually though, with motions in all different directions (after SEVERAL minutes), I was able to get very smooth cheeks. (b) This is where the good part ends though. I had the same 'streaks' problem on my chin and throat. Basically, it it near impossible to get a smooth shave in bony areas.3. CLEANING: Considering that I was looking to switch to an electric shaver for convenience, this was the worst part. The shaver is easy to open and clean, but there are many fiddly parts and tiny hair particles get into ALL of them! So after shaving, you HAVE to clean it EVERY time. My safety razor would have been cleaned in under a minute. This Philips shaver will take a few nervous minutes to clean - you don't want to lose any parts! Also, the cleaning brush itself is so tiny! I can't figure why Philips can't make brushes the size of at least a touchscreen stylus if not a pen. It's just hollow plastic after all. The brush is smaller than my little finger and not very good.4. SKIN REACTION: Since this is only a dry shaver and you can't use foam, cream or water, the entire experience FEELS like you're shaving a dry face with a razor -- and I don't like that feeling. Maybe I'll get used to it, maybe I won't. Also, I did develop some blisters, but they abated within a couple of hours.5. EDGES: Forget it. This shaver doesn't do edges. Since it has no built-in trimmer, you'll need a separate blade if you want clean lines around your sideburns or moustache.Overall, shaving with a twin-blade razor would have taken me under 10 minutes from foaming to clean-up, and I would have been guaranteed a perfectly smooth shave. With this I spent around 20 minutes (not counting the initial trimming) and I still didn't get a smooth shave everywhere.
Highly recommended.

The shaver left a few micro cuts when I used it for the first time. But, second usage on wards, it was a charm. It is highly portable and instead of having to carry the entire shaving kit with me, this machine alone is enough to keep me clean shaven.I have been using it for the last 1 year and it has been working like a charm. An excellent product to invest in.
Good value for the money
By Pkakatkaron
Though the removal of beard not as close as conventional razor, this is very much comfortable. Especially while on tour. No hassle of shaving creams, shaving gels etc.as we can use it directly on dry beard. Only thing is it irritates the skin and skin becomes reddish some times. But no issues. This is a good product from Philips and definitely it is value for the money paid. I recommend this product to buy.
good packaging
By Vigneshwaranon
Packaging is awesome which can accommodate 20 more product in the same package, to which they added airbags to cushion this single product. This 5 star rating is only for packaging.Product works well but also getting allergy( not really a skin decease but the blade when it cuts the hair also cuts the skin by this way I am getting allergy kind of impression on the skin like same as your skin suffer after a mosquito byte ) after shaving is done. Not recommended for soft skin.and also blades heats up soon feels like skin sticking to blades.
